Introduction of Sodium Hypochlorite Generator
The sodium hypochlorite generator is a kind of disinfection equipment for water treatment. The equipment uses salt water as raw material to produce sodium hypochlorite solution through the electrochemical reaction of the titanium electrode group.
Sodium hypochlorite (NaCIO) is a light yellow transparent liquid with a pungent smell similar to chlorine gas and is a strong oxidant. It has ideal disinfection and sterilization effect and bleaching and deodorizing function.
The Working principle of the Sodium Hypochlorite Generator
Sodium hypochlorite and chlorine gas have the same disinfection effect, the mechanism is that the hypochlorite ion generated after the hydrolysis of sodium hypochlorite in solution contains a positively charged monovalent chloride ion, which is transformed into a negatively charged monovalent chloride ion when it gets two electrons, and the hypochlorite ion is reduced. It's very easy to get electrons and it's very oxidizing. In solution, hypochlorite ions combine with hydrogen ions to form a small neutral molecular state. Because it is not electronegative to the outside, it is easy to spread to the negatively charged bacteria, and then through the cell wall and penetrate into the inside of the bacteria. In bacteria the strong oxidation of hypochlorous acid damages the bacterial enzyme system, resulting in cell death. Sodium hypochlorite not only in acidic solutions but even in weakly alkaline solutions also maintains strong oxidant properties and has a good bactericidal effect.
Total reaction formula: NaCl + H2O → NaClO + H2 ↑
Anode reaction: 2NaCl → 2Na++ Cl2 ↑ +2e-
Cathode reaction: 2H2O+ 2e- → 2OH-+H2 ↑
Solution reaction: 2NaOH + Cl2 → NaCl + NaClO + H2O
